Maine Boundary Consultants was started in 1988, by Robert A. Yarumian II, PLS in a back room in his house in West Buxton Village, Maine. His primary goal was to provide Land Surveying Services to the general public in southern Maine and beyond, as well as wanting to provide a special service that no other Professional Land Surveyor offered, namely Boundary Consulting and Expert Witness services. In the late 1980’s and 1990’s while performing Land Surveying Services, Mr. Yarumian, spent time on legal research in law libraries researching, reading, writing and lecturing on legal issues for Land Surveyors, boundaries and land right issues. In 1992, he acquired Middle Branch Land Surveyors, Inc., a land surveying company in Alfred, from Rodney E. Chadbourne, PLS 1125. Between 1992 and 1996, he continued to operate both Maine Boundary Consultants, Buxton, and Middle Branch Land Surveyors and Boundary Consultants, in Alfred.
In February 1995, he purchased a 5,000± square foot 120 year old brick building in West Buxton Village, known as "Moderation Center." (see Location). This new office space is steps from his house and provides two large walk-in fireproof vaults, perfect for storing irreplaceable historical Records and Archives and his collection of survey documents. Currently, Moderation Center is home to Maine Boundary Consultants, and was the former home of the recently departed Buxton-Hollis Historical Society. In 1996 Mr. Yarumian sold Middle Branch Land Surveyors and Boundary Consultants, in Alfred, to Nadeau & Lodge, Inc., so he could focus solely on Maine Boundary Consultants and the office space at Moderation Center in Buxton. He kept the large collection of 1960’s to 1996, Survey Records of Middle Branch here in the large office building at Moderation Center. Since then Maine Boundary Consultants has collected two other major Survey Records, one from his former employment at Morton and Rose Associates and SMRT, Inc., and the other from his good friend Daniel T. C. LaPoint.
In the 1990’s Maine Boundary Consultants continued to provide quality Land Surveying Services, and soon became a well qualified Expert Witness, winning various Map Contest Awards, as well as Lecturing at professional seminars and contributing to professional writings. In 1997, Matthew A. Sukeforth, (Robert A. Yarumian’s nephew) joined Maine Boundary Consultants working summers and winter vacations. In 2001 he joined full time after obtaining his college degree. In 2002, Daniel T. Yarumian, (Robert A. Yarumian’s son ) also joined Maine Boundary Consultants working summers and winter vacations. In 2007, he joined full time after obtaining his college degree in Surveying Engineering Technology.
