Maine Boundary Consultants has most of the Proprietors Plans or Town Lot and Range Maps of southern and western Maine on file. Most towns in southern Maine were laid out by the Proprietors during the original granting of land, generally in the 1700s. Many towns were laid out in 100 acre “Lots” (often numbered) that were in certain “Ranges” (often lettered), though often times the size of the lots vary. These “Lots” and “Ranges” are for the most part the first boundary lines established in these towns. Often it is necessary to perform deed research back to the original owner of these “Lots”. Maine Boundary Consultants collection of Proprietors Plans or Town Lot and Range Maps are probably the most complete collection in this area of the State.
